| Full Description: HYLOCEREUS UNDATUS HYBRID-' COSTA RICAN SUNSET '- it has a bright pink skin and very colorful purple-reddish pulp, very fertile and produces an abundance of 1/2 lb. up to 1 lb. Fruit can be eaten fresh like a melon after being chilled is best.Great in fresh fruit smoothies or as a edible garnish to add vibrant color to any dish. Huge nocturnal blooms over 15"+ across. This variety is not self pollinating and does need a cross, but its very fertile so it doesnt take much to pollinate. Growth is unusual and very wide, self branching, if not trained it turns into a huge bush looking dark mass with wide dark green flattened thick intertwining stems. Some say its a slow grower, but once it gets going by its second and third years it picks up steam and grows very fast. Same growing medium as Epis but likes shade at the feet and the top growth likes to reach full sun to bloom well.If your coastal it can handle full sun. Blooms all summer, fruits are developed after blooming and ripen by fall.
HYLOCEREUS HYBRID -COSTA RICAN SUNSET an easy to grow Hylocereus that grows well with almost no spotting and is a reliable bloomer/fruit producer, usually blooms mid to late summer-likes the heat, fruit is usually ripe by late summer or fall. Roots easy just like Epiphyllums. |
