Full Description: CUP OF GOLD- A showy tropical vine thats a fast grower with HUGE golden trumpets. The blooms average 6 to 10" in diameter and the tubes are 12" long. Easy to grow it has not tenticals to grab anything but if first year growth is trained over an arch way or fence, wall, gazebo etc. the second year growth will harden and become woody keeping the form. A tropical vine it does best in zones 9a and up. The second year growth can handle a brief freeze but it will lose all leaves and tender new growth until it warms again. In zone 9 its semi-dormant losing some leaves and slower growth in winter. In summer it grows very fast and can be trained over an arch way in one season. Free flowering at 3 yrs of age. The one gallon plants offered here are 6 months to 1 year from cuttings and average 2 plants per container 16" to 20" above the soil line.
The botanical name is SOLANDRA MAXIMA it also often called 'Golden chalice vine'.
