Full Description: Epiphyllum Hybrid 'KNEBEL'S LIEBLING' Has an Extra Large bloom with pure carmine- red. Wide petals. (Name in German means “Knebel’s Sweetheart”.) Hybridized by Curt Knebel in 1938-an oldie,KN#266-1938. Reg. #08006.

NOTES; Often registrations get a bit mis-described when translated from languages other than English as E.S.A. is the registration authority worldwide and the volunteers of the club do an awesome job, often the descriptions especially color translations can be a bit off when translated from another language into English. Adding to that this hybrid also is very old, pre-directory 1970's and the hybridizer is unfortunately no longer available to clarify there exact color meanings or intent which makes it even more murky and difficult to clarifly. So here is a link to a German website showing a picture posted showing the same name and simular colorings of 'KNEBEL'S LIEBLING' posted by a well respected and long time German Epiphyllum grower by the name of Herbert Pertlwieser for comparison. The bloom as you can see is carmin in its back petals but instead more of a rose-pink on inner petals, not really carmin-red overall though as the ESA description states and is simular to the picture shown above.
