Notes; This Epiphyte Weberocereus frohningiorum is very rare in collections and almost extinct in the wild. Unfortunately it has a very restricted range and its population consists of only 50 mature individuals in two locations of Costa Rica. There is continuing decline in the quality of the habitat due to small-scale ranching. It maybe possible to cross pollinate this epiphyte species to other types of jungle cacti.
Care; Grows very easily in the southern California climate. Likes a bit of shade some inland locations. Hardy to 32 degrees for brief periods, done ok at the nursery even down to 22 degrees but only briefly with no major noticeable damage except for some new growth stem tip discoloration. Likes rich well draining soil mix (Simular to Epiphyllum soil mix) bright light, regular watering during growing season spring thru summer.
Range Description: This species is endemic to only Costa Rica, distributed in the botanically rich Pacific coastal range just south of San Josť, along the border between San Josť and Puntarenas provinces. It grows at the 1,300 m range.
Please Note; THE CUTTINGS OR PLANTS OFFERED HERE WERE GARDEN CULTIVATED AND WERE NOT REMOVED FROM THERE NATIVE HABITAT.
